SPEED TRIALS.
ON MURIWAI BEACH.
RECORDS ESTABLISHED. FAST RUN BY DF.XTER. At the speed trials held on Muriwai Bearh on Sunday by the New Zealand Motor Racing Drivers' Association two New Zealand class records wore broken. These trials were for a flying mile, the spppd being taken in two directions. A. Tuckptt and K. Brewer, both driving CJ. Smith's Ford YS chassis, recorded the samp time of 02.07 m.p.h. Mr. Smith, driving thp same car, was a little slower at 02.43 m.p.h. A. Dexter, driving his midget Uilev. averaged the fastest time of 02.70 m.p.h. I he following records were established: I luler 1100 (•<•., 1!. A. Dexter, jun. (Riley). 38.45. 30.2s (mean 38.85), 02.70 m.p.h., lowering his own record bv 2..">1> m.p.h.; under .">OOO c.e., A. Tuekett (Ford \H), 30.25. 38..~s (mean 38.8,">5), 02.07 m.p.h.; F. Brewer (Ford Y8). 30.3 s. 38.4s (mean 38.8.>5), 02.07 m.p.h., both lowering F. Brewer's record of 87.0 m.p.h, I liese records are subject to confirmat ion. S. Casey made a run on G. Smith's Ford, and averaged 00.01 m.p.h. All the above drivers will bp awarded the silver "Hepolite ings"' for speeds over 90 m.p.h. Creditable runs were also made in stock cars by the following: R. Marmont (Ford V 8), 77.2"> m.p.h.; D. (Jatenby (I'ord \8), 77.2-"> m.|).h.; 1). lvav (Chevrolet). 70.43 m.p.h.; H. Wright (Ford \'B), 7->.0.) m.p.h. These drivers all win bronze "Hepolite Wings" for speeds over lo m.p.h.
The course wa« surveyed by Mr. A. Goss, and the timing was carried out by Messrs. G. Hunter,-I. Grieves. A. Goss and E. Spier. The "Hepolite Winds'' and the prizes won at the recent Muriwai races will be distributed at a smoke concert to be held on April 12.
