Auckland had made a gift of £1(101) per \\ annum for three years to inaugurate the fluid. '"In the brief space of 100 years many , churches and manses have been built," | said the Kev. R. C Mel),,wall, of St. j Luke's Church. ''That lias involved a large, capital expendit lire which the congrejjations • have ha<l to provide by way of loan*. They bear the ordinary rates of interest, and repayments with interest mean a heavy burden which hamper* the work of the Church. The; total burden of debt is over £jn(1,04»0."'
