YOUTH'S THEFT.
REMANDED FOR SENTENCE. A labourer of 20, Alfred Thomas Neckleson, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court to-day when he pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing £3 a/, the property of Ivan Balich. Detective-Sergeant Nalder said Neckleson had not been working for some time. He lived with his mother in an apartment house. "Thefts have been occurring there and the complainant kept his door padlocked," added Mr. Nalder. "On March 3 Neckleson broke the padlock and stole £3 5/ from the room. Neckleson says he was offered a job by the Labour Department but did not accept it as he thought he might be suspected if he left the house." "He is one of these lafcy young men -who won't work but prefer to steal," said the magistrate in remanding Kcckleson in custody for a week for eentence.
