SON CHARGED.

ALLEGED MURDER. ELDERLY MAN SHOT. FOUND IN POOL OF BLOOD. WOUND IN BACK OF HEAD. (By Telograph.—lTpss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. An elderly man. Mr. Jolm Kay. was found shortly after 10.1 j laet evening lying in a. pool of blood outside the back door of his homo at 14, Willard Street. Sprpydon. \o gun was found alongside the body, but it is understood that the police recovered a shotgun from a section. Sir. Kay, who was e retired eailruaker, lived with his wife and one son. About 10.15 last evening Mrs. Kay was sitting in a front room when ehe heard a noise which she later described as "something like an explosicn." She called a neighbour named Reed from across the street, and he went to an aren at the back of the house and found Mr. Kay. Mr. Kay had been shot with a shotgun at the back of the head, just above the top of the neck. Died in Ambulance. Mr. Reed summoned a n ambulance, and Mr. Kay was rushed to hospital, but he was dead when the ambulance arrived there. The police were advised, and immediately began investigations. In the Magistrate's Court this morning Roland Leslie Kay, aged 40 years, was charged before Mr. 13. C. Levvev, S.M with the murder of his father' John Kay. He was not represented bv counsel. Detective-Sergeant Holmes, who prosecuted, said accused wne arrested at 3.30 this morning. He asked for a remand until Monday, March 28. The magistrate assented to the remand, the proceedings lasting barely one rninnte.
