ANTI-NOISE RESTRICTIONS.

I notice that the Wellington City Council j proposes to prohibit aeroplanes flying before seven o'clock in the morning,, because of the disturbance caused bv their noiee. There is another anti-noise restriction which ought tobe passed and enforced in Auckland. Some owners (not all) of speedboats make ashabit of driving them from end to end of a beach and back again. The din is inescapable, and it affects not only people on the beach but also people in houses for a quarter of a mile ; back from the beach. It is, of course, usually i necessary to start these craft from a beach, and I do not think any exception should 'be taken to that, if the boats are driven off the shore and out of hearing. But one youth in a s]>eedboat should not be allowed to take his ) ilea sure by destroying the pleasure of hundreds of others. NEARBY RESIDENT.
