SERIGUS MEASLES EPIDEMIC. NORTH AUCKLAND OUTBREAK,' (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAXGAREI, this day. Since February there have been 10 deaths from measles in Xorth Auckland, and the outbreak ha* assumed epidemic proportions. The deaths, which include those of tw o white children. have occurred in the northern part of the Bay of Islands Countv and h> far north as the North hqx-. Inder authority from the Mini<lcr of Health I the medical officer for North Auckland. I Dr. C. B. Oifoerd. has closed all schools and Sunday schools and prohibited the attendance of children under th'- a?e of 16 years at all jrathcrin:r s and picture shows in the Mangonui and Whangaroa Counties. It the diajenosis of measles is confirmed the isolation period is laid down as M days from the appearance of the rash until convalescence is satisfactorily established, but owmp to the Krioue nature of the present epidemic three weeks' isolation U adnsed."
