j>r£no FRANK, German writer who was the original author of "Storm in a Teacup," has signed a writing contract with M.G.M. Q-LADYS GEORGE gets the part of Madame Du Barry in Norma Shearer's "Marie Antoinette." Also in the cast will be Melvyn Douglas and Maureen O'Sullivan. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ JESSE LASKY means to co-etar Barbara Stanwyck, Joan Bennett, Merbert Marshall, and if, possible, Joel McCrea, all in one picture. It's "Distant Field," and will go into production when Joan Bennett finishes her tour of "Stage Door."
J/JISE RAINER has gone to bed with a serious attack of 'flu. Her part in "Madelon" is to be played by Maureen O'Sullivan. -*■ + ♦ + QLAUDETTE COLBERT. Akim Tamiroff, John Payne and Martha Raye have all been holding up their respective pictures with bouts of larvngitis. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ TXTHEN Fredric March returns from play-acting witli his wife in New York, he will report to R.K.0.-Radio for the leading male role in "The Saint in New York," by Leslie C-harteris. With him is Barbara Stanwyck, who is on the crest of popularity —credit to "Stella Dallas" and Robert Taylor!
