BOYCOTT THREAT.
FARMERS' UNION ACTION. DROPPING OF PLAN URGED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. In connection with the threatened boycott of New Zealand produce by 8000 operatives in the Rossendale Valley, England, as a reprisal against the action, of the New Zealand Government in increasing the duty on English footwear imports, the president of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, Air. W. W. Mulholland, has sent the following cablegram to the Federation of Boot and Shoe Unions, Euston, Loudon: — "Much concerned at the cable reports of a boycott of New Zealand produce by the shoe operatives at Rossendale. This action penalises the New Zealand farmers, who have strenuously fought against tariff increases, and does not affect those responsible. Hope the boycott will be abandoned."
