MARRIED IN LONDON.

NEW ZEALAND TENOR

Mr. Hubert Carter, the well-known New Zealand tenor, who is now in London, was married recently to Miss Edith Elizabeth Page, a distinguished pianiste. The wedding was celebrated quietly at Croydon, where* a family party was held r but in the evening there was a wedding reception, at • the Overseas' League, London.

Wedding cake and wine were served early, and this was followed by music, the bridegroom singing a number of Maori songs with action, and several operatic numbers He was accompanied by the bride, who also played a couple of solos.

Mr. Stanley Morgan, another New Zealander, who had been best man at the wedding, and who was himself recently married, contributed several items with his young wife. Besides two humorous items, Miss Stella Murray was the only other singer.

After the music there was supper, then dancing till midnight.

The bride wore a lovely gown of gold lame, with a spray of red carnation. Hubert Carter has written a song, which Stanley Morgan has set to music,, called "Red Carnation," which he has dedicated to his- bride, and which he sang at the reception. The bride's mother wore a gown of black georgette, with a slight ;train r and a white fur cape.
