Sick lea«e with pay, tlie application! of the Scaffolding Act to Government j Departments. the organisation of domestic workers and the abolition of niglit ha king are some of the reforms sought a strongly-supported remit which] wi.l be submitted at the 22nd annual! conference pf the Labour partv at Wellington on April IS. The remit also states that 110 trades unionist should accept work outside the hours specified in his award without charging overtime rates. In a further remit sponsored by 10 unions and branches it is recommended that the falsification of wages and time books should be made a criminal offence. It is also pro-posed that Saturday should be a universal half holiday. The Wellington Clerical Workers' Union and two branches of the Labour party will move: "That conference reaffirms the principle of equal pay for equal work, and urges the Government to reduce the present disparity between men s and women s wages as shown in the basic wage pronouncements." A remit with a punch in it is sponsored by the Onehunga branch of the Labour party and the Auckland Carpenters' Union, ft reads: "That legislation be passed making it illegal for any local body to belong to the Employers Association." The carpenters are also responsible for a remit suggesting that the income-tax limit be raised from £210 to £310. From Ruawai conies a remit: "That the whole incidence of local body and hospital service, drainage, hydro-electric and water supply be made a national j responsibility and a direct charge on I the national revenue." j
