ON 'CHANGE.
MORE BUSINESS DOING. BUT MARKET WEAK. BAXK OF NEW ZEALAND STEADY. Recent improvement in turnover on has besn maintained, but there is little strength in the market, and most changes are' in favour of buyers. Australian issues are gtill dull, and even Glass shares, which hid, so far, withstood the general downward trend, slipped to-day with a gale at £4 12/9 at the first call, a drop of 9d. Mount Lyells were unchanged at £1 10/, and Woohvorths (Syd. ney) were steady at £1 6/6. The_ banking section was almost lifeless, but Jsew Zealands were steady, with fresh business at £2 3/. D Mortgage shines weakened further, with sellers nt £1 9, t>, and no buyers. Gas shares were steadv, with a market between £1 0/2 and £1 0/4, and in the woollen section Bonds Hosiery scrip was quoted, with buyers at 18/ and sellers 3/ cipher. McKenzies were again in demand, with no sellers, and buyers for Milne and Choyce moved up to 15/, sellers 1/ higher. New Zealand Drugs reacted to the favourable annual report, and buyers advanced to £3 10/. but sellers had withdrawn. Mount Morgan preference shares were quoted for the first time, with a market between 5/3 and 5/9. The ordinaries were steady a.,t 9/9 to 9/11. Amalgamated Brick (Auckland! debentures had their first sale since the halfyear's interest, £3. was paid, and at £91 showed a drop of £2 10/.
Insurance Shares Weaker. Insurance shares were affected by the general weakness of the market at the noon call, New Zealands selling at a drop of 6d, while South British were quoted lower, between £2 5/6 and £2 6/9. National Banks recovered then- recent drop with a sale up 6d, at £2 14/. The only other appreciable changes in values were an improvement in Mount Morgans to sales at 3/11, and an easing in Marthas.
