CREDIT BY FRAUD.
OFFENCE IN AUCKLAND. MIXED LIQUOR ORDERED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Convicted of obtaining credit by fraud, John Godfrey McArthur, 43, a labourer, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment by Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M. It was stated that the accused called at a frareliousc at Auckland, and represented himself as a member of the staff of the Devon port, naval base, ordering ten bottles of beer, two of cocktail and two of port wine, and stating it was for an ex-naval men's gathering.
He cleared out of Auckland, and was later located at Wellington, where he made a frank statement to detectives. He had a number of convictions for similar types of offence.
