The Corn-well C'np was retained b T I'liiuiiierxon. who won the eighth race to-day. The boats started at 0.4s a.m., the finishing times were: — Plimmerton, lOh 30m Lis , Wellington, lull :-Som .'i-V 9 Ota go. lOh 40m .">2s j Many Capsizes. This morning's race, as were the two races yesterday, was mainly between Plimmerton and Tauranga, and «jaj n Tauranga were unlucky, capsizing when iin the lead. Plimmerton were j 0 Wanganui'o boat. They had three wine Tauranga two. Auckland. Wellington ! and Paremata one each. The course today was triangular, three tim*.s round. The wind was a moderate north-wcsterlr which fell towards the end. and there was the usual rolling swell lo seaward. Auckland, Paremata. Tauranga and Manukau all capsized. Plimmerton ; finished the first round .30 se-onds ahead |of Tauranga.- Otago were next. Tan- ! ranga passed Plimmerton when Plimmer- : ton lost their spinnaker on the next leg. 'and were retrieving ir. Auckland and Paremata both set spinnakers and both ! capsized.

Plimmerton again got into the lead on the leg to leeward, hut were passed on the weather leer with Wellington in third place. Setting out on the last round. Tauranga were goin- well when a ~qvall struck them a;hl rney went over. Plimmerton went on to win despite a etrong challenge from Wellington on the weather les. Mamikau capsized ca the last- run to leeward.

Last year, when the contest for the Cornwell C'up was held at Tauranjia. it was decided in the sixth rare, riimnierton. sailed by Walton Bros., winning. This year the contest ran to eight races the winners being Auckland. Paremata. "Wellington. Tauranga. Plimmerton, Plimmerton. Tauranga and Plimmerton in that order. The Plinmierton's crew consisted of A. D. Barron, skipper, and E. Edginton. crew.
