Twelve Nations Recognise Ethiopia Conquest. TILT AT OTHER POWERS. (Received 11 a.m.) ROME, January 5. A semi-official announcement welcomes Holland's recognition of the Abyssinian conquest. Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Albania, Spain, Japan, Manchukuo, Poland and Yemen have now given de jure recognition, while Britain. France, Belgium, (ireece, Bulgaria, Rumania, Czechoslovakia, Turkey, Iran, Peru and Haiti have accorded de facto recognition by closing Consulates-General at Addis Ababa.
The statement adds that if there are still Powers who feel they cannot face and solve the problem Italy will not be the loser.
WAFDISTS DIVIDED.
EGYPTIAN PARTY DISSENSION.
LONDON, January 5.
The Wafd (Egyptian Nationalist) party decided at a meeting to hold a national congress shortly to consider the political position, states the Cairo correspondent of "The Times." Also it decided to expel four additional deputies.

The manifesto calls on Wafdists "who still cherish the true principles of Wafdism" to rally round them. It is understood that they plan to form a new party to be called the Saadist Wafdist party.
