United Press Association.—Copyright. * (Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, January 5. "The Star" says that Britain's defence estimates for 1938 are already prepared and will be submitted by Sir John Simon, Chancellor of the Exchequer, after the holidays.

They comprise:—

£125,000,000 for the Navy. £102,000,000 for the Army. £113,000,000 for the Air Force. £10,000,000 as the first instalment of air raid precautions.

This aggregate is a peace-time record.
