NEW DOMAIN ROAD.

PROTEST BY COMMITTEE. DEPARTURE FROM PLAN. A protest at the suggestion that the new drive which is to connect Stanley Street with the roadway near the Domain ponds should be available as a means of motor access to the Domain and the War Memorial Museum is made by Mr. X. R. W. Thomas, chairman of the committee watching the Domain improvements. The solution open to the City Council was to farm the roadway and to regrass it so that it would be available as a service route to the new planting. Mr. Thomas said. The council passed a definite resolution against its i»e as a motor road, and he was in complete agreement with that resolution. Presumably on big occasions, such as Anzac Day. the fences at either end could be removed. '"The intention, as we understood' it. was that the route should be fenced off and not opened to general usage." Mr. Thomas concluded, "a-nd we protest emphatically against any departure from the original idea. 1 *
