A MAGNOLIA SETTING FOR AN ATTRACTIVE BRIDE.

Six Bridesmaids in Medieval Frocks.

McGREGOR—HOLBECHE.

A wedding of widespread interest throughout New Zealand took place at St. Mark's Church, Remuera, this afternoon, when Leslie Eileen Holbeche, only daughter of Mrs. Edward H. Dane, of Remuera Road, and the late Mr. Vincent Holbeche, was married to James Noel McGregor, only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. A. McGregor, of Mount Linton, Southland. The Rev. P. Houghton officiated.

The taride Bade a" charming picture as she came down the aisle on the am of her grandfather, Mr. T. H. Barstow.. She wore a frock of magnolia satin patterned in a fine, soft, dullish design in self colour. The gown was perfectly plain and most effective in its [simplicity. The bodice was tight-fitting I and the sleeves* which were long and I tight, came right over the hack of the hand to the finger tips. A snnray fold was in the front of the skirt, which was ankle-length and fell away into a very long train. Softness was added to the neckline at the throat by a. tiny cowl fold. Her veil was of cream tulle, which billowed in foamy masses over her shoulders and then fell into a long train of delicate creaminess. It covered her face and was caught by a. single magnolia, which was secured at the top of the head. A long trail of most exquisite magnolias was carried.

Attending the bride were six bridesmaids, Misses Margaret Ewen (chief), Den Wootton, Gay Wilson, Margaret Smith (Wanganui), Joan Campbell r tWellington), Lorn a Blundell (Masterton>. They made a most arresting sight as, in their frocks of cream, they folloiwed the bride. The gowns of cream chiffon over taffeta wsre fashioned on mediaeval style. The tight fitting bodices were laced down the front with magnolia green, which fell in a splash of green down the skirt. The necks were square, and from the pointed shoulders the sleeves were tight fitting to the wrists. The gowns were buttoned right down the back, and the long skirts had short trains. On their heads they wore mediaeval caps, from the points of which fell square veils. Each maid carried a single magnolia and two lovely buds.

Supporting the bridegroom was Mr Bob Murie, of Wellington, as best man, and the ushers, who later escorted the bridesmaids, were Messrs. Bob Whitehead (Southland), Gerrard McQuilkin (Southland), Norman Loisel (Gisborne >. Dan Bryant (Timaru), Colin Speight, Surgeon-Lieutenant Horne, of H.MA Achilles, and Dr. Alec Kirker. \\

The church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion by the girl friends of the bride, who chose a scheme of cream, green and yellow. Flowered strands were at both the top and bottom of the pews, while at the altar were masses of cream magnolias. The soft colours made a perfect setting for the bride and her attendants.

Following the ceremony a reception, which was very largely attended, wa« held at the home of Mr. W. P. Endean, Judge Street, Parnell. Here again, many beautiful flowers were to be seen, the main decorations being carried out in tiny yellow arum lilies and hydrangeas. The guests were received in the reception room, where pastel toned hydrangeas made an attractive display. A beautiful array of presents was set out in the billiard room, which was also decorated with summer flowers.

To receive her guests, Mrs. Dane, mother of the bride, wore a frock of brown polka dotted net over georgette, fashioned in redingote style. It bad a narrow belt of brown georgette, and the ensemble was accompanied by a shallowcrowned brown ballibuntal hat trimmed with flat brown velvet flowers. She carried cream flowers. Mrs. McGregor, mother of the bridgeroom, wore a frotk of fawn georgette and lace, and a widebrimmed fawn ballibuntal straw hat trimmed with flowers. Autumn toned flowers were carried. Mrs. W. P. Endean had on a frock of blue net with a cyclamen. velvet, sash and a cyclamen toned hat.
