OPOTIKI HIGHWAYS.
PROVED VERY POPULAR (From Our Correspondent OrOTIKJ, Tuesday. Heavy tourist traffic continues on tlit highways in the Opotiki district, tht new coastal route between Opotiki an< Gisborne being very popular. In spite of the loss of the Keren Bridge, quite ; number have crossed the river bj making use of the bullock teams. A fair amount of trouble has beei experienced at the Raukokore crossing and several cars have become stuck ii the water and required assistance. Mam j tourists are camping between Opotik and Te Kaha. The equipment to replace the losl spans of the Kereu Bridge Is now beinj assembled, and the bridge should b( i restored at an early date.
