Wendy Holds a Painting Competition
Good Work From Readers
Budgetland was indeed a gay place this week during the time that the many delightful entries for Wendy's painting competition were received.
The only one to voice a complaint was the Crocodile, and he grumbled because rule breakers were few and far between. It was this feature, however, that made the competition such a pleasant one to judge.
Never, thought Wendy, has there been such a variety of colours for any painting competition. Of course, Santa Claus, could wear none other than the traditional red robe edged with white, but the clothes of the children and the toys upon the tree were a positive riot of gay hues.
Two of the nicest entries came from Peggy and Ailsa Wallace. Peggy and Ailsa submit consistently good work for many of our competitions and well deserve honourable mention.
Outstanding in the B section were the paintings from John Leese and John Whale, whose names are also familiar to readers.
Taken all round, it was a truly delightful competition and Wendy has much pleasure in awarding prizes to the twenty-four young people whose names appear below:—
