HUGE BOAR SHOT.

HATOANGI RANGE CAPTURE.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

WELLINGTON, Tuesday.

A black boar, estimated to weigh 4001b, was sighted at dusk on Saturday by Mr. H. Hughes, Pirimoa, and Mr. T. Cooper, Wellington, on a high ridge of the Haurangi Range, on the east coast of the Wellington province. An exciting stalk took place before the huge animal was located again in a patch of fern and shot by Mr. Hughes.

The carcase rolled down a steep hill side, and came to rest in thick under growth overhanging the river.
