INDIAN IMPRISONED.

HOBSON STREET INCIDENT. "H'm, this is the man who always pleads not guilty when he is charged with drunkenness," remarked Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court to-day when an Indian, Sham Singh, labourer, aged 56 (Mr. Aekins) appeared in the dock to plead not guilty to charges of wilful and obscene exposure in Hobson Street, using obscene language and assaulting a married woman.

The magistrate convicted Singh on all charges after hearing three witnesses describe the assault, which occurred in Hobson Street about 3.15 yesterday afternoon. Singh, who had 47 previous convictions,' was sentenced to six months' imprisonment on the charge of obscene exposure. He was convicted and discharged on the other two counts.
