Santa Claus Comes to Town
A Seasonable Competition
Christmas—-Jong rows of lighted shops, presents gay with holly and coloured ribbons, an eager, laughing crowd that fills the busy streets —truly, a memorable time! And what visions of mince pies, fat brown puddings and Christmas trees float before the minds of us all weeks before Christmas is actually here. With such excitement in the air, we simply had to have a Christmassy competition, and so a cut-out Santa Claus was arranged.
Cut-out competitions are so easy to do that even the smallest members of our clubs stand an equal chance with the older contestants of winning one of our fine prizes. These contests always result in so many neat entries that the judge has a difficult time to pick the twenty-four best.
It become! obvious then, that the prizes go to the competitors who have tried to make their entries a little different from the rest. Santa CUus must have a bag of toys and so some readers drew one by his side. Others placed him by the chimney place or added a touch of gaiety by surrounding him with holly leaves.
The following readers are awarded prizes for their good work:— R. Burton, Mount Eden, age 15, monoplane kitset. Aliaon Jecks, Epsom, age 15, torch. John McCosh, Manurewa, age 12, monoplane kitset.
