Tho handicap event. for the Frank Hawos Clip, was won by 10. L. Thwnites on a handicap of 17. with a not of 141.
Match piny for the open amateur championship and the North Shore handicap was due to start to-day. A bogey lianUicap will also be decided. WARD RETAINS TITLE. FOURTH CONSECUTIVE VICTORY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CIIRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The Christchurcli amateur golf championship was won at Shirley to-day by C. J. Ward for the fourth year in succession. After a morning round of 73 had given
him a comfortable lead, his aggregate for the 30 holes was 152, four strokes better than his nearest challenger. 1,. A. Dougall. Water which lay on the turf the day before made the judgment of distances awkward, and most of the competitors found the rain-soaked fairways and greens troublesome. Scores were poor.
