TWO KILLED.
MAN AND WOMAN. HOUSE FUMIGATION". MELBOURNE, December 15. A man and a woman were killed by gas fumes and another woman was dangerously poisoned and is in hospital as the result of the fumigation of a house in Banks Street,' South Melbourne. The man was Alan Skiller, and the women were-Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Cullenev, both of South Melbourne. One of the women died after their admission to the hospital. The house is two-storeyed and of the terrace type, having windows at either side. The victims of the gassing were the only people in the house, part of which had been fumigated by a city firm of fumigating contractors. Skiller, who was boarding there, was dead in his bed when neighbours went to the rescue of the two women. His room is directly below an upstairs room, which had been fumigated, and it is thought that the poisonous fumes leaked through the cracks in the upper floor and the ceiling beneath. - Mrs. Brown called daily at the house to do the cleanii.g. Neighbours were told of the tragedy by Mrs. Cullenev about midday. She staggered to the front door and called to a womafi two doors away. "Come in and help me. A woman has fainted." When the neighbour entered the front door Mrs. Cullenev had collapsed in the passage. The house was filled with bitter fumes. % The neighbour ran out and Frederick fcYater, a voting man from next door, was called in. Mrs. Cullenev gasped, "Quick, get the woman upstairs." Frater ran up the stairs and found Airs. Brown lying on a landing.
