LEAGUE FOR PEACE.
REPORT OF CAMPAIGN. The usual meeting of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom was held at the Fabian Club. Mrs. Humphreys presiding. A large amount of correspondence from the International Peaee Campaign was received. with news of the campaign throughout the world. At time of writing 81 peace weeks had !■ on held in (Jreat Britain, including such im|»ortant towns as Liverpool. Glasgow. Birmingham. Bradford and Leeds. In man/ of these place* clergy of all denominations were among the speakers. The great Peace Conference in London in OcU>l>er was also des<-ril>ed. A letter from Mrs. Douglas, of Wanganui. who has been on a visit to the I nited States, and visited among other places Swar.thmore College, where tlie memorial library to the late .Tane Adda ms is housed, gave a graphic account of her tour, the conference of the Society of Friend*, and the progress of the peace movement in the States.
A communication from the W.C.T.I". re the quest ion of drinking at flanoes was discussed, the meeting deriding to endorse tlie union's resolution: "In view of numerous re|xirts of evils resulting from drinking at danees the W.I.L.P.F. urges immediate legislation to stop this custom." The City Council's resolution re children on the streets at night was al<o endorsed.
Members were very pleased to hear that Madame do l..i*rt-Yan Rossern. a member of tlie league resident in Geneva, won the first prize (2000 dollars) in the recent New History Society's prize essav world competition* "How can the people of the world achieve universal disarmament!"
