HARBOUR BRIDGE PROJECT.

CONFIDENCE OF PROMOTERS

In the annual report presented to shareholders in the Auckland Harbour Bridge Company, Ltd., held this week, the directors urge the necessity for renewed patience and confidence. Detailing negotiations- with the City Council, the report quotes the finding of that . body as follows: "We desire to express the opinion that undoubtedly the Auckland harbour bridge would be an asset to the whole ,of metropolitan Auckland."

"The need for the bridge," the report states, "is becoming more pressingly urgent every day. The proposals made .by Messrs. Hornibrook's Proprietary, Ltd., of Brisbane, offering to finance a fid build the bridge, still stand, and only need the approval of the Government. The directors express confidence that 'the bridge' will soon be an (accomplished fact, for the barriers of Departmental delay cannot for longl withstand the pressure of urgent publicl need and demand." |
