CASE OF DE SOTO. Disqualification Issue —Eligible For Auckland? (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRiyrCHURCH, this day. At a meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association last evening an appeal against the decision of the New Brighton Trotting Club's stewards in disqualifying De Soto and his owner, Mr. C. Johnston, and his driver, J. Pringle, for three months was considered. In view of the additional evidence that was provided, it was decided, under Rule 77. to refer the case back to the New Brighton Trotting Club. It was also decided, under Rule 387, to remove the disability in connection with Racketeer, who is owned by Mr. Johnston but is being raced by Mr. A. Chinnery. Until the disqualification is removed De Soto will not be able to race. According to advice received in Auckland, the New Brighton Club will reconsider the case on Monday. De Soto was disqualified at the recent New Brighton meeting, but has been paid up for in the Auckland Trotting Cup in the event of the appeal proving successful.
