ELLERSLIE TRIALS.

USEFUL GALLOPS.

SHY'S GOOD ROUND.

CERNE ABBAS VERY FIT,

The co'irso proper, which was available for fast work at Ellerslie this morning, with the poles 50ft out, provided excellent going and some fairly good efforts were recorded, the best being those of Knight of Australia over a mile, Kiltowyn over seven furlongs and Bronze Lady over five furlongs. She also went well over a round.

Knight of Australia (Clarke) was first out and completed a mile in 1.46 3-5, the first half being covered in 53 l-ss. Royal Mimic (Henderson) impressed more than Captain Bruce (Neil) at the conclusion of five furlongs run in 1.6 3-5 —a useful trial for a hurdler. Glen Abb (Ritchie) worked lazily over the same distance, recording 1.8 1-5. Bronze Lady (Tonka) reeled off five furlongs in 1.5 3-5, the last half mile being covered in 525. This was the best of the morning over the distance. Kilonsa (Wiggins) and Land Girl (McCurdy) galloped six furlongs in 1.21 2-5. There was little between them at the end. The two-year-olds Royal Abb (Wiggins) and Silver Cloud (Manson) came home from the four-furlongs post in 53 l-ss. They ran the first furlong in 12 3-5« and Royal Abb impressed most. Shy (Cameron) completed a round in 2.11 1-5. He ran the last six in 1.22 4-5 and the final half mile in 54 l-ss. He was running on solidly at the' end. Ben Braggie (Wiggins) was given an easy half mile, taking 58 2-ss. Jolie Dance (Ritchie) was not doing her best while traversing six furlongp in 1.22 4-5. Tiverton (Henderson), Gay Broney (Cameron) and My Money (Tonks) finished in that order at the end of seven furlongs, which occupied 1.32. They ran the first three in 38 3-5e and were going nicely at the finish. Tiverton had a big advantage in weight. Valspear (Wiggins) was under restraint throughout a mile which he covered in 1i53 2-5, and Bronze Wing (Buchanan) strode over half a mile in 58 2-ss. The stablemates Cerne Abbas (Smith) and Royal Chief (Johnstone) finished up a useful task by running their last three furlongs in 42 3-ss. Cerne Abbas looks a vastly improved mare since she was here last. After taking 26 l-5s for his first two furlongs Peter Beckford (Cammick) continued on to register 1.6 4-5 for five furlongs. Over a similar distance Argentic (McCarthy) was going easily to clock 1.9 2-5. Padishah (Murray) had an advantage over Privy Seal (Wiggins) at the conclusion of a mile run in 1.48 1-5, the first three furlongs taking 40 l-ss. Royal Appellant (Buchanan) shaded Lady Defoe (Nesbit) and Saccone (Cameron) over a round run in 2.15 3-5. the last seven furlongs taking 1.37 1-5. Ringshot (Cameron) reeled off three furlongs in 40 4-ss. The best seven furlongs of the morning was credited to Kiltowyn (Ritchie), who ran the distance in 1.30. He covered the first two furlongs in 245, four in 49 3-ss, and although, he had a lot of pace on when he jumped away it was a good effort. United (Gemmell) came home from the half-mile post in 53 4-ss.

No. 3 Grass. Silver Sound sprinted four furlongs in 53 l-5s and' Bright Idea (Kerr) and Master Appellant (Stokes) finished together over a similar distance, taking 53 3-ss. Droll (Murray) completed strong work over a round by covering her last half mile in 52 l-ss. On the tan Wotan galloped an easy half mile. Haerepo also did pace work on the same track.
