CHRISTMAS PARTY.

CHILDREN ENTERTAINED.

GUESTS AT BUFFALOES' LODGE,

Nearly 600 guests attended a Christmas tree party held this afternoon in the Drill Hall, Rutland Street, under the auspices of the- Past, Present and Future Lodge of the Royal Antedeluvian Order of Buffaloes. Children numbered 375, of whom 300 came from the poorer areas of the city, and most of them were accompanied by their parents.

The whole cost of the party was defrayed by the lodge, the guests being invited by the Order of St. Vincent de Paul, the Community Sunshine Association and the Dock Street Mission.

Lady Davis presided at the opening of the party. Toys were distributed and various entertainments, including a Punch and Judy show and a pantomime horse, were provided.

The lodge once held similar Christmas parties annually, but was forced to discontinue them durf»«g the depression. It is hoped that to-day's function will be the first of a new series.
