Mr. Armstrong says tlip bonne will be •C 2 for married men and £1 for tingle iiipii, payable to all who had actually rcrei\pd rclipf or wero engaged under one of the undermentioned schemes i:; the week ending December -1, as follow: Scheme No. i workers employed for less than *10 hours a week; men in receipt of sustenance without work; gold prospectors, including men em- I ployed on developmental work other than those employed full time (40 hours a. week or more) at standard rates of pay; clerical workers employed in local in>dy offices, relief depots, etc., whose total remuneration as eucli is not more than £2 10r a week in the case of married men and 37/11 a week in the case of single men; 4A workers on own farms excluding oivhardists in receipt of frost damage relief; men receiving sustenance allowances under the small farm plan, and men employed on the special fulltime works arranged thrqugh local bodies. The honus is payable to persons engaged in the above-mentioned schemes who did not continue to receive relief after the week ended December 4, 1037, but any person who registered and became eligible for relief after that week is excluded from participation. Any person who re-registers and becomes eligiblo for relief in any of the weeks ending December 11, 18 and 25 is eligible to receive the bonus provided lie was receiving relief ■'vom one of the schemes at, any time within the period September 5 to December 4. 1037. Holidays. The Government has decided that in addition to the bonus, persons engaged in the following schemes are to receive two weeks' paid holiday for the weeks ended January 1 and January 8, 1038:— Scheme 5 workers employed on a rationed basis, of less tlinii 40 hours a week; gold prospectors employed under Scheme 15, including those on developmental work, except where they are employed for full time at standard rates of pay; and workers employed in clerical and other capacities in local body offices, relief depots, etc.

All Schemo 5 works will be closed down from December 22 until January 10. Men who would normally report for

Scheme 5 work for December 23 and ' December 24 will bo paid in advance as

though they had worked. Payment of holiday pay will be made before Christmas.

For men on sustenance payment for allocations for the weeks ending December 25, January 1 and 8 will also be mndo before Christmas, and for the weeks ending December 25 and January 1, recipients of sustenance will not be required to make declarations of earnings. A similar concession has been granted Scheme 6 worker*.

Arrangements have been made for the special full-time rotational works to be closed down for the weeks ending January 1 and 8 and men so employed will receive the Christmas bonus and be paid sustenance rates for the period.

Concessions are also being offered for public works employees recruited from, the unemployed register within a period of two months before Christmas.
