DISTRESSED AREAS.
Improvement Reported in Britain. HOUSE OF COMMONS DEBATE. British Official Wireless. (Received 12.30 p.m.) RUCJBY, December 10. The Labour party's censure motion 011 the Government's handling of problems in the special areas was debated in the House of Commons. Mr. Krnest Brown, Minister of Labour, replying, said there had been great improvement in these areas since the Special .Areas Act had been in operation. After detailing the improvement in conditions in the special areas, he said that in November, 1934, the unemployment register total in the special areas was 440.031, but 011 October IS last it was 205,952. Compared with a year ago, there was in .July an increase in the numbers at work of 100.000. The censure motion was rejected by 352 votes to 140.
