TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. BROKEN HILLS FIRM. I GOVERNMENT STOCKS EASIER. (By Telegraph.— Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Interest was fairly well sustained on call this morning. A rise of 9d in Broken Hill Proprietary shares was a feature of the quotation list. On the other hand recent easing in Government debentures was eontirmed in a sale of 1946-49 stock at a drop of 7/0. to £102 12/6. and E., S. and A. Bank shares failed to hold yesterday's level. Metals were steady, with Broken Hill Souths, ex dividend, selling at £1 17/3. Mount Lyells have varied little from £1 12/ in the last few days. Industrials were in good request. Im addition to sales of Broken Hill Proprietary, Dmilops were firm, and Australian issues in general were quoted at late rates. Zincs moved fractionally higher than yesterday. SALES RECORDED.
