TO-MORROW'S GAMES.

CHAMPION'S HARD TASK. MAY HAVE TO FOLLOW ON. 'VARSITY AND Y.M.OA.'S CHANCES. The question of the moment in cricket circles is whether North Shore, the champion side of 1935-36 and 1930-37, can sjive the follow-on against Grafton. Twenty-two runs are required for the last wicket, which will be defended bv C. G. Walters and J. T. Bush, captain (left-hander). The former is usually the opening batsman, but received a painful injury to an ankle while fielding when the Grafton captain (N. Ellis) was bathing last week, and did not go in until nine of his comrades had fallen. 'Varsity requires 2(il to top Par noil at Devonport, where an hour's play was lost last Saturday through rain. Y.M.C.A. has started well against King's fine tally of 344, and with 49 on for no wickets the young men have an outside chance unless F. M. Andrews and M. J. Hewitt strike a lucky patch early to-morrow. Ponsonby has to face nearly .500 runs against Eden, and here another follow-on is indicated. Positions of teams:— Out- Ist No right. Inns. re- Ch. P. W. Like the A.C.A. champion side, the City and Suburban winner last season is being asked to do something out of the ordinary to-morrow to avert defeat. For an answer to Manukau's 162, R.V. (batting a man short) was dismissed last Saturday for 44 only. The position in the other two senior matches at the Domain is:— Green Lane, 312, versus Roskill. For the former C. Kerr, scoring his second century of the year, emulated P. E. Whitelaw's feat in carrying his bat right through Parnell's innings at Devonport. Brixton, 184, versus Ponsonby, 34 for four wickets. Second division special one-day fixtures for this week:—Dilworth v. NewLynn, Domain No. 15; Papakura v. Training College, Training College No. I; Harbour Board v. Tui, Victoria Park No. 10; Green Lane v. Transport Board, Domain No. 4; Waterworks v. R.V., Victoria Park No. 9; Mount Roskill v. Manuks.u, Domain No. 11.
