THE SMALLER CRAFT RACES,

TAMAKI PROGRAMME. The M class committee -will hand in the names of their team on completion of the squadron's race. They will be the first? six boats to finish. A request lor six bouts has been made by the M class committee and agreed to by the commodore of the club on behalf of the V class who are keen to race and do not quibble over conditions. The M class ask that boats be inspected before the start, aud that the course be arranged by one representative of the M clasts, one from the v class and Mr. Wilkinson. These are fair requests and will be agreed to by both classes. There are now ten boats in the M class and over twenty in the V class winch race regularly. Points will be counted according to the order of finishing, lirst boat In takes 12 points, and each subsequent one a point less, the highest total being the winning tea.in. A good contest is assured, and it is creating a lot of interest, as it should settle the question of which is the faster clase. The four boats, Ma none, Irena, Riptide and Vaalele will compete in the 18ft world's championship at Sydney next month.

Currey; Ayeoha, Neil VYing, antl Demon, »floy Currey. S Class.—A sweepstake for the S class, starting at 3.15 p.m., will be held, also a race for any other class which attends at the clubhouse. Crews will be provided with light refreshments la the clubhouse after the con testa by the ladies' committee.

WAKATERE BOATING CLUB.

Wakatere Boating Club members and their friends attended in full force last evening in the new club room. Narrow £\" f 'k, which \va>j officially declared open by his Worship the Mayor of Devonport, Mr. H. V. \V\ Meikle. Mr. E. Alii ridge, senior councillor, presided. and outlined the steps taken by Mr. ,r. ISrooke, president of the club, to persuade the council to help with the rebuilding. the outcome of his efforts being the present tine clubhouse. Mr. Brooke thanked the council for their Assistance, and said all the work had been done by the voluntary labour of club nienVbers. who had given up' their weekends anil many evenings to complete the hall. The time taken represented a total of UT.'iii working hours, and he heartily thanked all who.had assisted. The clubhouse is liftft long by 24ft wide, with a stage at one end. flanked by dressing rooms, with 14 lockers below and a well-equipped workshop :n which members were assisted to build their own boats. Mr. .Meikle. after complimenting the club "ti its good work, declared the hall open. The Borough Council had been a bit dubious about the ability of the club to do tin- work, but they were all very pleased with the manner in which it had been carried Miir. He felt sure that the club w. iild make full use of their facilities to help t lie youth of Oevonport to acquire .1 love for the sea. Mr J.
