COTTAGE HOMES.

FARM LABOURERS. GOVERNMENT'S HOPES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. "Standard plans are being drafted for the building of> cottages to provide accommodation for farm labourers," said the Miniate* of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, to-day. "The Government hopes that the erection of these cottagef, which will cost only a modest sum aiid which will be available for purchase by farmers at the easiest terms possible, will do much to relieve the shortage of farm labour, one of the greatest causes of which has been the lack of suitable accommodation." A fairly early announcement giving fuller details of the scheme could be expected from the Parliamentary UnderSecretary in charge of Housing, Mr. J. A. Lee, added the Minister.
