SCOUT CEREMONY.
CRIPPLED CHILDREN. Well-kept lawns, shady trees and the se« with Rangitoto in the background made ideal surroundings for the scout, cub pack and troop of the Wilson Crippled Children's Home at Takapuna this week. In an open, airy ward, under the leadership of District Scoutmaster Goodwin and Scouter Pope, 15 or 16 scouts and cubs assembled to see four of their number become full members of the world-wide brotherhood of scouting. All but one of them was in bed. Two lines of cots facing inwards, with the flag of Empire flying from the mantel top, made for a real scouting atmosphere. The whole ward reflected the eighth scout law, "A scout smiles and whistles under all difficulties." They were a happy, care-free group, even though most of them were deprived of the use of one or more of their limbs. A small group of scouters and commissioners assembled around the bed of each of the scouts to be invested, and one by one the promises were made.
