A WORTHY CAUSE. /
Tlie Canterbury Owners and Breeders' Association will hold a charity meeting" at Addington on Saturday, December 18. The purpose of the function is to assist three members of its organiastion who have been seriously injured at race meetings, and the dependents of one who died at Grey mouth. They are the widow and family of the late G. Caddy, and the horsemen who have been injured are R. Fcrgusson, clerk of the course at Addington, ('. Yeatman, who was badly hurt in a race at Greymouth. and G. Clarke, whose bad accident at Amberley over a year ago has kept him in hospital ever since. , DEATH OF OWNER. The sport of trotting has lost an ardent supporter in Mr. J. W. Frizzell, whose death has occurred. At his farm at West Eyreton Mr. Frizzell and his brothers derived considerable pleasure for over 30 years from racing pacers they had bred. Among them was Tdm Thumb, who paid a big dividend when he was driven by hi» owner in a novice event at Ash burton. Tom Thumb won numerous races, But he broke down before his best was recorded with the colours up. Probably the best horse produced by Frizzell Brothers is Aide de Camp> winner of many races, and one of the most promising pacers in commission.
