CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday. The report to be presented at the annual meeting of the Cambridge P titions Society states that the in October was an unqualified For some years past the mcomefroro the festival had not been sufficient to meet the expenditure and large sums had to be drawn from the reeerve account until those resources were nearly exhausted. The committee decided to carrv on in spite of the discouraging resulte and were rewarded this year by the festival returning a profit of i<il l«/The entries were a record for the aociety. The membership of the society reached 95, the highest for many years. Ihere was also a large number of season ana children's tickets sold. . . . The society was fortunate in obtaining the services of three excellent adjudicators, whose awards met with the general approval of the" public and whose critictsnis were helpful to the competitors* Theye were Mr. Will Hutchens, M 8., of Christchurch (musical), Mr. Errol Hr. Muir, of Wellington (elocution) and Miss Bettina Edwards, of Auckland (dancing). During the year the former president, Mr. F. R. Wooldridge, left the district to live in Wellington. The committee I unanimously elected Mr. A. G. Boyce to fill the position.
