TAX PROTEST.

bachelor? jjt ih ARMS.

BUDAPEST,

The announcement that they are to i be taxed has roused the bachelors to resist. A bachelors' club has been formed, and it is proposed to send a deputation to the Ministry of Finance to protest against the introduction of a bachelors' tax, on the ground that bachelors support mothers, sisters, or other relatives, and must not be regarded as egotists. This move on the part of the bachelors is resented by the mothers of marriageable girls, and it is reported that a deputation of these has appealed to the Home Ministry not to admit the foundation of a bachelors' club. The bachelors have replied to this step by announcing their intention to cNttt branches of their clubs in the provincial towns.
