(.Received 11.30 ajn.) CANBERRA, this day. The Minister of Defence, Mr. H. V. Thorby, announced that he had called for a report on a series of accidents which has occurred in the last few weeks to the Royal Australian Air Force Hawker Demon 'planes.

During the flight of a squadron of nine Hawker Demons for Melbourne to Brisbane and back there have been seven accidents.

While the squadron was taking off from Cootamundra yesterday a machine crashed and was severely damaged. One occupant suffered a broken nose and another extensive abrasions.
