STRAWBERRIES CHEAPER. GRAPES SELL SLOWLY. HEAVY POTATO SUPPLIES. Supplies of strawberries at the City Markets to-day were larger, witih values easier. Tjhere was a good demand for loganberries at the prices given, and cherries and gooseberries had a fair inquiry. The demand was fair for both lemons and grapefruit, but grapee ha:l a elow sale. A few peaches were available. Quotations: —Apples: Dougherty, 5/ to 9/ case; Canadian Jonathan. 25/ to 26/; Canadian Wineeap, 25/ to 26/. Pears: P. Barry, 8/ to 9/ case; Winter Coles and Xelie, 4/ to 12/. Tomatoes: Outdoor, extra choice, 3d to 8d lb; hothouse, 6d to lid lb. Oranges: Australian, 22/ to 26/ case; Jamaican, 25/6 to 29/6. Grapefruit: Xew Zealand, extra choice, 8/ to 12/ case; otihere, 4/ to 7/. Lemons: Choice cured, 11/ to 14/ case; others, 4/ to 8/. Bananas: Ripe, 15/ to 24/ case. Grapes: Californian, red 27/6, white 27/6, black 35/ chest. Plume: Christmas, 4/6 to 5/6 case; Sharp's Early, 6/ to 7/6. Strawberries: Captain Cook, extra chrtce, 1/ to 1/2 chip; othere, 1/; Marguerite, extra choice, 1/ to 1/1; othere, 9d to lOd. Loganberries: 9d to 10V4d chip. Gooseberries: 5/ to 6/ case. Cherries: Extra choice, 11/ to 13/ case. M'urfhTooms, 1/ to 2/ lb. Coconute: 15/ eack. Vegetables. Heavy supplies of new potatoes were available to-day, and sold at very low prices. Lettuce wae aleo lower- in price than last week, and supplies of peas and beane are Iheavy, fair prices being realised. Cabbage and cauliflower were ?n good supply, with prices a little higher than last week, Carrote and parsnips were still realising good prices. Cucumbers were in heavy supply, witih prices a little lower. A few new season's onions are now available. Quotations: —Asparagus, 6d to 7d bundle; beet, 8d to 1/3 dozen: broad beans. 2/ to 3/6 bag; carrots, 1/ to 2/ dozen; cauliflowers, 2/6 to 5/6 nack: cabbages, 2/ to 5/ sack, on benches 6d to dozen; cucumbers, 2/6 to 6/ dozen; French beans. 3/ to 7/ bap; l>eans, 5/ to 8/ ba<r; preen peas, 4/ to 7/ bac; Kuimarae, Teland, 14/ to 15/ cwt: leeks, 3d to 6d bundle: lettuce. 2/ to 7/ case; marrows, 2/ to 5/ dozen; onions, new seneon 4/ to 5 '6 bag, Canadian 14/ to 17/ bag; potatoes, Xo. 1 to 5/ bag, Xo. 2 1/ to 1/6: pumpkins. 24/ to 30/ cwt; parsnips, f/6 to 2/ dozen; radish, 6d to 0d dozen: rhubarb. 1/6 to 3/ dozen; epinach. 6d to 10d dozen; spring onions, 6d to 1/ bundle: swedes, 3/6 to 5/ bag; turnips, 6d to 9d dozen. Butter and Eggs. Egg prices are unchanged, as follows:— Hen: First grade. I'6V4 dozen; B grade, 1/5%; C grade, 1/0%. Duck: First grade, 1/5% dozen; B grade, 1/4%; C grade, 1/1%. Farmers' butter, lid to 1/1 lb. Poultry. At to-day'e auctions tlh« supply of poultry wae heavy and the demand wae keen. " The prices paid dropped elightly all-round. Selling rates were as follow: — Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime. 3/6 to 4/9 each; not prime, 11% to 3/6; light breeds, prime, 2/3 to 3/6; not prime. 2/ to 3/. Fat Toosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 3/ to 3/6; light breeds. 2/ upwards. Fat hene: Heavy breed*. 2/6 to 3/6: lielit I breeds, 1/6 to 2/6. Pallets: Heavy breeds, | best. 3/6 to 6/; smaller, 3/ upwards; light ! breed*, best. 3/6 to 4/6; smaller. 2/j upwards. Drakes: Young, prime, 2/6 to I 3'3: smaller, 2/ upwards: old. 2/ to '.'■'.
