Mr. Justice Callan returned to Auck land night from Hamilton.

Mr. R. J. Kerridge, of Gisborne, left for the South last night.

Major J. Buckley, managing director of the London firm of C. and E. Morton, Limited, is at Hotel Cargen.

Captain E. G. Morris, R.N., Director of Nival Reserves, arrived in Auckland by the Limited express this morning.

The Hon. Sir Apirnna Xgata and Lades'rjat a were passengers by the early express from Wellington this morning.

Mr. E. D. Rex, of the Audit Department Wellington, has been appointed chief clerk to the Hamilton Borough Council.

The Right Hon. J. G. Coates, Messrs. ('. K. Petrie and A. C. A. Sexton, M.P.'s, were arrivals by train from Wellington this morning.

Mr. I'. A. Xathan, who has been on a vi-it to England and the Continent, returned to Auckland yesterday, accompanied by his wife.

The Hons. ,1. Alexander, B. Martin, T Hloodworth and E. Dye. M.L.C.'s arrived in Auckland by train this morning from Wellington.

Mr. A. Harris and Mr. E. A. Brown, trustees of the Auckland Savings Bank, returned to Auckland from Rotorita yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Jas. Fletcher, of the Fletcher Construction Company, Limited, arrived in Auckland from Wellington by the Limited express this morning.

Mr. John Barr, of the Auckland Public Library, is making a tour of the Auckland Province, inspecting public libraries on behalf of the Carnegie Trust.

Mr. D. X>. J. Clayton, formerly managing director of the Kauri Timber Company, Limited, was a passenger by the Monterey for Sydney last night. He was accompanied by Mrs. Clayton.

The Hon. Ata. Minister of Lands under the Tongan Government, and the Hon. Akauola. Governor of Vavau, are due to arrive in Auckland by the Matua on Monday. They will leave later in the day by the Awatea for Australia on holiday.

Mr. F. G. Kibblewhite, headmaster of the Opotiki District High School, has been appointed to a similar position at Te Kuiti. Mr. Kibblewhite, who will take over his duties at the beginning of next year, will succeed Mr. G. e! Kidson, who has retired.
