WEEK-END PRICES IN SHOPS. STRAWBERRIES CHEAPER. SLIGHT RISE IN BANANAS. Bananas are a little dearer than last week, the temporary over-supply of the local market having passed. Fresh supplies are due at periods, however, and a special Fijian shipment is on order for Christmas. Strawberries are becoming more plentiful and prices have been reduced during the week. The city is better supplied with vegetables and prices are lower all round than they have been for some months. The price of hen eggs is unchanged, but A giade duck are up a penny to 1/9 per dozen. Current prices in city shops are as follows:— Fruit. Apples: Canadian Jonathan, Delicious, 2d each; 'lasma, 6d per lb; Stunners, 5d per lb; Delicious, 5d per lb. Pears: Cooking, 4d per lb; Winter Coles, 6d. Local grapefruit: 9d to 1/6 doz.; Jamaican, 3d to 4d each; Sunkist, sd. Oranges: Australian Valencia*;, 2/ to 2/6 per dozen. Lemons: 6d to 1/. Bananas: 4d and 5d per lb. Tomatoes: Hothouse, 1/4 to 1/6 lb. Coconuts: 4d to fid each. Pineapples: Island, 1/ each. Tree tomatoes: 1/ per lb Mushrooms: Cultivated, 4/ per lb. Grapes: Malaga, 1/8 per lb; Kibiers, 2/; Emperor, 1/6. Plums: Californian, 1/3 per lb. Mangoes: 4d to 6d each. Strawberries: 1/9 to 2/6 per chip. Pawpaws: 1/ to I' 6 each. Vegetables.
