SALE OF WORK.

AIDING PATIENTS' FUND.

MENTAL HOSPITAL VENTURE,

The Auckland Mental Hospital Authorities, who have previously relied on outside donations to augment the patients' Christmas fund, undertook a new venture yesterday when they held a sale of work at the hospital. The bazaar included displays of crockery and sewing done by the patients.

The stalls were set out in the main hall, which was decorated with closelytwisted streamers in all colours. Each stall had its own particular colour scheme. The reception lounge, where afternoon tea was served, was adorned with vases of golden daisies, while the pillars were swathed with gold satin. On the stalls attractive cakes, sweets and fancy work made by the patients was displayed while members of the staff assisted in the selling. The bazaar was organised by the medidal superintendent of the hospital, Dr. H. M. Bucfianan, the matron, Miss M. Mayze, and Dr. J. C. D. Macky. The decorations were carried out by Dr. W. Baber. Music was relayed through an amplifier under the supervision of the chief engineer at the hospital, Mr. M. C. Alexander. The bazaar was officially opened by Dr. T. G. Gfay, the Director-General of Mental Hospitals. Dr. Gray paid a tribute to the ladies of the mental hospital branch of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary.
