DR. W. E» THOMAS RETIRING.
ROYAL CHOIR CONDUCTOR
In July, 1905, Dr. William E. Thomas wa% appointed conductor of the Koval Auckland Choir, and since then he has been continuously in charge. It is now announced that he will not seek re-election at the annual meeting. .
During these 32J years the choir has maintained a remarkable record, one
that reflects the ability of Dr. Thomas in the presentation of artistic performances. Through his efforts the choir has attained a high place in popular estimation, mid he himself has won the esteem of every member.
Before he came "to New Zealand Dr. Thomas held, several distinguished posts in the musical world in England. It was on the death of Profeeeor Carl Schmitt that he was appointed professor of music at Auckland University College. Ever .since his arrival iri the Dominion his high musical attainments have won him universal appreciation. His talents as a composer are well known, and eome of his compositions for voice, organ and violin have gained greet praise overseas.
