HEAD INJURIES.
FOUND ON PAVEMENT.
VICTIM .OF ATTACK.
CARPENTER'S TRAGIC DEATH.
With police officere sitting beside his bed, hoping in vain that he might recover consciousness and give same clue to the myetery ojf his wounds, Albert Block, 42, carpenter, died in the Prince of Wales Hospital, Tottenham. Mr. Block bad been found on the pavement at Tottenham Hale with severe head injuries. It is believed that he wae the victim of an attack.
Later a man wae questioned by the police at Tottenham. Afterwards he wae charged with the murder of Mr. Block.
A close friend of his eaid that Mr. Block was attacked while vieiting a public-house.
"When he was taken to hospital it wae found he had a fractured jaw and severe injuries to the back of the head. _ "Although police officers eat by his side until he flied, he was unable to eay anything but his surname.
"When given penoil and paper, all he could do wae to write his name. "Two or three men who were near Mr. Block at the time have been interviewed by the police. "He was a carpenter and had been out of work for eome weeks until a week ago, when he got a job at Woodford. He would have been 42 on Monday, and his wife and four daughters— whose ages ranged from 24 to 13—had all bought their present* for him. "We did not think he had an enemy in the world."
