MX. J. 8. DE MONTALK ELECTED

The by-election to chose a member of the Papakura Town Board to take the place of Mr. H. P. Spinley. who recently resigned owing to ill-health, was held yesterday. There were three candidates, Messrs. J. S. de Montalk. a local auctioneer, and who was elected, D. J. Graham, formerly postmaster at Papakura, and W. C. Rankin, the secretary of the local branch of the Labour party. Only a quarter of the number on the roll voted. The result was:— J. S. de Montalk .* 120 D. J. Oraliam 105 W. C. Kankin 98 1 There were -no informal -rotee.
