FEEDING ON WHALE.

When passing down the New Zealand coast to Auckland the Union Company freighter Gabriella sailed by the carcase j>l a great whale' which was being attacked, according to members of the crew, by half a dpzen large sharks and many seabirds. The whale was about 28 miles east from North Cape and drifting inshore when passed by the Gabriella. The water in the vicinity was covered with oil.
