FIRST MOTORSHXP ARRIVES.
Making what is expected to be the first of a series of regular calls in a world trade route, the British motor tthip Salamaoa, owned by Messrs. W. R. Carpenter and Co., Ltd., Suva, arrived in Auckland thie morning with a cargo of sulphur from Galve*ton, Texae. The ship, which m under charter to the American Trading and Shipping Corapuny, will probably maintain a round ♦ he"world schedule in conjunction with her sister ship, Krfbaiil, with Xew Zealand ports on the regular itinerary. Both freight and passengers will be carried. Formerly the vessel traded between Australia and Europe, but thie voyage originated at Rotterdam, and provided for loading at the Texan port. She will proceed to Sydney, Suva. Papuan and Xew Guinea "porta, and thence to the United Kingdom. She brought a email passenger liet. most of whom are booked through for Rabaul. The voyage tnrough the Atlantic and the Pacific was described as magnificent. Among the passenger* were: Mr., Mrs. and Master Symes. of London, bound for the Solomon Island*: Mesore. Leiderer (Austria). Host (Denmark), Captain Riwsell (Great Britain). Miss T> Bridses (Australia), Mrs. and Miss Webb (Rabaul). Messrs. J. TWckson and Broom (Great Britain). Mr. Stanley (Bueno* Avres).Mr. Stanton. Mrs. Harding and thre« children (Xew Guinea), and Messrs. Parker and Eades (Great Britain).
