(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, thk day.
"There is a saying that when nations go to war the first thing to do is to hang the ambassadors. Well, no United States ambassador or consul will ever be hanged in New Zealand, for a war between the United States and any English-speaking country will always be quite impossible," said Mr. Lowell C. Pinkerton, ConsulGeneral for the United States, in addressing the Wellington branch of the English-speaking Union. Mr. Pinkerton said it wae extraordinary how traditions of language, laws and interest* drew .together America and the other English-speaking nations of the world.
